Guelph needs a year-round accessible greenhouse classroom to be a welcoming space in our community where healing is a shared experience; especially for those who feel a sense of isolation and depression in the winter. It would provide a workshop space surrounded by plants, where professionals can lead nature activities that inspire us to take better care of each other and the planet – where people can learn horticultural techniques, develop skills, and enjoy each other’s company. The Biophilia project requires a greenhouse as well as start-up funds of $30,000 and, eventually, subsidies for those who cannot afford to pay for programs themselves.
