Wellington Water Watchers is planning an in-school education program promoting water conservation, protection and restoration through watershed literacy to unfold in the 2014 – 2015 school year. In order for children and youth to feel motivated to take care of our water, a sense of connection to our watershed – the source of life for us all – is essential. This project will rely on storytelling and interactive games by trained facilitators to illicit minds eye imagining resulting in a grand mapping system of our places and stories of connection. We are seeking funds to hire staff to develop and carry out this project.
We will partner with The Great Lakes Commons Mapping Project, along with the Upper Grand District School Board, the Wellington Catholic District School Board, the Grand River Conservation Authority and the Water Departments from across the County.
