What is the Elevator Project?

A New Partnership that Matches Great Community-Benefit Ideas to Funding and Resources

The Elevator Project has officially launched, bringing the promise of awesome things to come.

The Elevator Project (originally called the Guelph Community Innovation Connection) is a collaboration between 10 Carden, the City of Guelph, the Guelph Community Health Centre and Innovation Guelph. Together they are creating a new process to match great ideas that will make Guelph an even more amazing place to live and work, with the resources to make these ideas happen such as funding, advice and connections.

“Guelph’s citizens have a wealth of ideas that will contribute to community well-being. This process will help strengthen and launch many of these initiatives.” Julia Grady, Co-Founder 10 Carden

With support from a three-year project grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the initiative has now officially launched with two key ways to become involved.

Do you have a great idea to make Guelph more awesome?
Share it! Stop by 10 Carden and meet with their Community Collaborateur, Katrina McQuail ([email protected]) during drop-in times running for the rest of 2013:

  • Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-4:00pm
  • Wednesday evenings from 7:00-10:00pm
  • and Friday mornings from 9:00am-noon

Katrina will help you flesh out your idea, and begin to put together the initial written material necessary to enter the process.

This idea generation and preparation work is building towards a process that will identify community interest around topics and specific projects. Within the next 3 months, supports will be matched to those projects with both short-and long-term community interest and benefit. A public event to announce these projects is being planned for January. To be featured in this first round of funding, get your ideas in early!

The Elevator Project and the collaborations that will arise through this process are founded on the idea of cash + which means it’s not just about money. Everyone will benefit from participating with selected projects receiving mentorship support, business coaching, communications, community engagement as well as financial funding.
