The Computer Library of Guelph (CLoG) is a service aimed at providing computers and technical education to low income families in the City of Guelph with the first targeted community of the Brant Avenue neighbourhood. Families would pay a small membership fee for the year which would scale based on the amount of computers required for the home. The membership fee would provide access to a Laptop or Desktop computer, free hardware and software support, and have access to training at Brant Avenue Public School for business applications, hardware and software troubleshooting, and most importantly Coding.
Our current state of the project is partnership development, fund raising and process development.
Ultimately our goal is to have CLoG find a home in the proposed Community Seed Hub Community Centre in the Brant Ave Neighbourhood to ensure space to house hardware and triage machines is available and a learning space is convenient to the community. CLoG will be able to provide a service to that community that will equalized access to computers regardless of economic background and provide a dignified and safe space to learn for everyone.
