Farming in urban neighbourhoods (FUN!) will training low-income citizens to become local urban farming apprentices in neighbourhoods where the only food products available in walking distance are on the shelves of the 7 Eleven. These participants will learn skills in horticulture to expand and intensify the local community gardens, harvesting, and food preservation in the community kitchens. The products will be sold at a new summer neighbourhood urban farmer market. Families would be trained and accompanied by staff from the Julien Project. The project requires $15,000 in funds to support the coordinator, instructor, farmer’s market coordinator, and cost of seed and compost.http://thejulienproject.com
